The leading brand in France and ranked 4th in Europe, Peugeot Scooters will extend its sales network to the world's biggest market at the end of this year as part of a strategic step in its international expansion.
2010 has been and will remain a decisive year for Peugeot Scooters. After a name change at the start of the year, the unveiling of its new brand image and the announcement of four new products, in December the Marque will cut the ribbon on its first store on the Chinese market which, with over 20 million units annually, represents almost half of the global market and is eight times the size of the European market.
Distribution of products is being entrusted to Qingqi, the industrial and commercial partner of Peugeot Scooters, which holds a 50% stake in the joint venture created by both brands in 2006. In all, the Peugeot network will comprise 145 sales outlets and nine flagship stores spread across nine Chinese provinces.
To start with, five products ranging between 80 and 125 cm3 will be on sale (three scooters and two motorbikes), all manufactured at the state-of-the-art plant in Jinan. This catalogue will be supplemented in the near term by the arrival of high-end products imported from France benefiting from the Marque's extensive know-how in the field of motorised two-wheeled transport.
This know-how and unique history will be showcased at the Peugeot stand in the France Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo where Peugeot Scooters, the oldest manufacturer in the world, will be present from 14 July through to 15 August 2010.
